From Fabric 2 cut 4 pieces measuring 3 1/2” square

From Fabric 4 cut 8 squares measuring 2 3/8” square
Take the 2 3/8” squares that you have cut from Fabric 1 and Fabric 4 (there will be a total of 16 squares) cut these on the diagonal to create a total of 32 half triangles.

Take 1 triangle you have just cut from Fabric 1 and Fabric 4 and join together using 1/4” seam. Iron

Split your newly sewn squares into two sets with 8 sewn squares in each set.
Take one of the sets of squares and sew two of the square together. Take note as to the angle that you sew these together. Repeat with the other squares in the set so that you have a total of 4 newly sewn units. (We will call this Set 1)

Take the set of squares and sew two of the squares together, however this time you are going to sew them together at a different angel. Take note as to the angle that you sew these together. Repeat with the other squares in the set so that you have a total of 4 newly sewn units (We will call this Set 2)

Take one of the squares you have cut from Fabric 2 and one of the sewn sets from Set 1 and sew together. Repeat with the remaining Set 1 and 3 pieces from Fabric 2
Take one of the Set 2 and sew one of the 2” squares from Fabric 1. Repeat with the other 2” squares of Fabric 1 and the other 3 pieces of Set 2.
Take a 1 piece from the above two newly sewn sets and sew together. Use the diagram as a guide. Repeat with the remaining pieces.

You will have a total of 4 blocks.
Take 2 of these blocks and 1 piece of the Fabric 1 measuring 3 1/2” x 5” and sew together – double checking before you sew that the “Paws” are going the right way! Repeat with the other two blocks.

Take 2 pieces of the Fabric 1 which measures 3 1/2” x 5” and the pieces you have cut from Fabric 3 and sew together.

Then sew this block to the 2 larger blocks you have previously sewn (see the finished picture as a guide)

SEWING TIP
Cutting and Sewing Triangles: there is another way instead of having to sew all those little triangles together. Cut the squares as described above however do not cut them into the triangles. Take a pencil and mark a diagonal line (top left corner to bottom right corner) do this on the back of your fabric.

Put two pieces of the fabric right side together. Pining the fabrics together is optional.

Place a quarter inch foot onto your sewing machine. Using the line you have drawn on the side of your foot, sew a quarter inch either side of this line

Using your rotary cuter and ruler, line up your ruler with line which you drew onto the fabric and cut down this line.

Iron and you now will have two sets of squares with the triangles sewn together!
