Fabric Choice

From Fabric 1 cut 4 pieces measuring 3 1/2" x 6 1/2"

From Fabric 1 cut 2 pieces measuring 3 7/8" square

From Fabric 2 cut 4 pieces measuring 3 1/2" square

From Fabric 2 cut 2 pieces measuring 3 7/8" square

Take all of the squares that you have cut from fabric 1, fabric 2 that measuring 3 7/8" Square and cut on the diagonal as shown in the diagram below.

Take one of the triangles from Fabric 1 and one of the triangles from Fabric 2 and sew together. Iron.

Sew all the newly sewn squares together, you may want to iron your centre seam open to reduce the amount of bulk at the centre point.

Windmill Triangle

Take one of the pieces you have cut from Fabric 1 that measures 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" and sew together with one piece from Fabric 2 that measuring 3 1/2" Square. Repeat with the remaining fabric pieces.

Last week we took you through the steps of how to sew together a partial seam. This week's block also has a partial seam. To see a step by step guide please view our Indian Star Free 12" Block Pattern. Layout all your fabrics using the guide below and sew together.

Iron and you are done.

OR THERE IS ANOTHER WAY TO PIECE THIS BLOCK TOGETHER.

Take one of the triangles from Fabric 1 and one of the triangles from Fabric 2 and sew together. Iron.

Take one of these newly sewn squares and sew it to the Fabric 2  3 1/2" Squares. Make sure you pay attention to which side of the squares you sew together. Repeat with the other 3 sets.

Take one piece for fabric that you have cut from fabric 1 that measures 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" and sew it to your newly sewn rectangle. Once again pay attention to which side of the rectangle you are sew together. Repeat with the other 3 remaining pieces of fabric 1 and the rectangle sewn sets.

Using the diagram below as a guide, layout all your sewn pieces. Sew the sqaures together, iron and you are done.
