BERRIMA PATCHWORK

TEACHER PROFILE: TAMSIN HARVEY

Tamsin Harvey grew up around sewing and fabric as a result of a family-owned business. Sewing has been part of her life since an early age. It was not until later, however, that her quilting journey began by chance when she was visiting a close relative who was a hand quilter with a large collection of quilts. Amazed by these quilts, Tamsin started to quilt by machine and has been addicted ever since.

In 2007, Tamsin and her mother, Sue, purchased Berrima Patchwork. Because of demand in the store, she started to design her own patterns and teach workshops. In 2015 Tamsin's first book - Constantinople Quilts was published with the C&T Publishing. Her next publication - Iznik Garden will be released January 2017.

She is the designer and owner of the pattern company Berrima Design. Her designs have appeared in several Australian patchwork magazines, including Quilter's Companion, Australian Homespun, and Down Under Quilts.Tamsin's other passion (when time permits) is traveling to exotic and historic countries, which inspire her quilting designs. Tamsin's quilts have been exhibited both within Australia and International including at the International Quilt Associations: World of Beauty competition at the International Quilt Festival, Road to California and AQS QuiltWeek.

Tamsin lives in the Southern Highlands, with her two Maine Coon feline "quilting consultants," Phoenix and Indiana. Her philosophy of quilting is to use a machine to make an interesting quilt with ease. The workshops Tamsin is teaching this year are achievable by all levels of quilters and you will have either a finished or near finished product by the end of the class.
