Stitching in the Highlands is an annual sewing retreat that we hold in January June each year.
We do not hold regular workshops.

General Information about our Stitching in the Highlands Retreats
What is Stitching in the Highlands?
It is a hand sewing retreat which runs for 3 days (Friday through to Sunday). whether you like embroidery, English paper piecing, handwork, felting, knitting and more this is the perfect event to attend and to work on whatever project you like. It is about having fun and meeting new people. No sewing machines please.
What is the cost and what is included in the cost?
The event fee for 2025 is $110 per person
This allows you to attend all 3 days of the retreat. We hold throughout the 3 days several talks and demonstrations. The enrolment fee only covers you place to attend the retreat. Any items or gifts given to the attendees is as the discretion of Berrima Patchwork and is not part of the enrolment fee.
How do I enroll?
You need to call us on (02) 48771382 to book your place. Your place is not confirmed until payment has been paid. Full payment is required at booking.
What if I can’t attend all 3 days?
Not an issue, we had many attendees only able to attend on the weekend. The cost is the same.
Where is Stitching in the Highlands held?
Stitching in the Highlands retreat will be held at Mittagong RSL.
Can I bring my sewing machine?
No sorry no sewing machines, there is no access to power.
I am from out of town where should I stay?
Accommodation is not included in the retreat fee. On site at Mittagong RSL you will find the Springs Motel which you can book directly with, please note that they are very busy for the January date and may not have vacancies. There are several motels and many B&Bs in the area and throughout the Southern Highlands.
Are food & drinks included in the fee?
Food and beverages are not included in the fee however the RSL has a selection of meal/drink and food options. Please note you are not allowed to bring into Mittagong RSL any outside food & drinks including snacks and lollies! For this retreat there is to be no drink bottles to be in the event room, there are free water stations available in the upstairs foyer and in the cafe/bar area. Bottled water is available from the cafe and bar for purchase.
When do we receive confirmation of our booked?
You will receive confirmation at the time your booking is processed. This is an automatic email that sometimes ends up in the junk/spam folder. If you are booking as a group the main contact will receive confirmation email at time booking is processed. 1 month prior to the retreat we send out a full email with details about the retreat, timings and so on.
I have friends attending that I would like to sit with.
All seating for the retreat is allocated prior to the event. 1 months before the retreat we ask you to provide us with details if you are coming with friends and would like to sit together. If you are coming by yourself don't worry we often have several others going the same and we tend to sit you all together. Over the years many table groups have been created by people meeting for the first time at the retreat and then returning for the following years. Please do not contact us prior to a month before for seating arrangements (we will lose the details before!)
What is the cancellation policy, terms and conditions of booking?
Berrima Patchwork does not accept responsibility for changes in personal circumstances of its Stitching in the Highlands attendees.
If you cancel more than 45 days prior to the start of the retreat you will receive a full refund less a $10 administration fee.
If you cancel less than 45 days prior to the start of the retreat - no refund will be given unless we can fill your place in which case a full refund will be refunded less a $10 administration fee.
If you cannot attend however and have a friend who wishes to take your place please contact us ASAP.
Berrima Patchwork does not accept responsibility for changes in the personal circumstances of its students and reserves the rights to refuse to accept a booking. While we appreciate that other quilt and patchwork and craft retreat business owners would like to attend, this retreat is designed solely for our retail, non commercial customers. We do not allow any promotion of events, business' or selling of merchandise between attendees at this event.
